da Vinci Robot Makes Public Appearance
Grand Rapids Public Museum Hosts da Vinci Robot
For two days only, the da Vinci surgical system robot was on display at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. On December 11 and 12, many local people tried their hand at “operating the robot” and learned how dexterously the robot’s “hands” could move and handle objects.
The da Vinci robot complemented the traveling display the museum had on exhibit at that time: Leonardo da Vinci: Machines In Motion.
Several surgeons and surgical services staff were on hand at the museum to answer questions and demonstrate how to utilize the robot.
Media came out to the event! Read The Grand Rapids Press story.

Congratulations to Saint Mary’s for hitting the 1,000th surgery mark using the da Vinci Surgical System on Wednesday, December 16, 2009.
Stephen Dalm, DO, performed the 1,000th case at Saint Mary’s Health Care.
Our first da Vinci Surgical System was the result of a generous gift from the family of Tom and Mickie Fox in December 2006. On February 14, 2007. Paul Rodriguez, MD, performed the first Saint Mary’s da Vinci- assisted surgery, a prostatectomy.
Saint Mary’s purchased its second da Vinci Surgical System in late 2008.
