Saint Mary's Health Care Wins Prestigious Diversity Award

101 Best and BrightestGrand Rapids, Mich, May 11, 2005 - The Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA) has named Saint Mary’s Health Care as one of West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to work for and was further recognized as a 2005 Elite Award Winner for “Diversity and Multiculturalism”.

“We’re very proud to receive this distinguished recognition of our diversity efforts,” said Wayne Boatwright, Saint Mary’s chief diversity officer. “Our goal has always been to offer a workplace in which all employees feel respected for their skills, insight and experience so that we can capitalize on our diversity as a source of strength.”

Saint Mary’s also takes pride in extending its diversity efforts beyond the work environment and into patient care, Boatwright said.

“We continually implement new strategies to advance the concept of diversity and we strive to be an organization that respects and accepts people from different backgrounds, not only for employees, but also the diverse patient population that we serve,” he added.

Saint Mary’s also recently received the Governor’s Award of Excellence for improving preventive care in the ambulatory care setting.

The 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For awards were established to honor those companies in each market that recognize employees as their greatest asset.  These are companies that work with imagination and conviction to create organizational value and business results through their policies and Best Practices in human resource management.
