Health and Fitness Day on May 27
Everyone’s welcome to the National Senior Health and
Fitness Day at the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center, 600 Forest
Hill Ave SE, on Wednesday, May 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A Healthy Living Lecture Series will be held throughout
the day in the Fine Arts Center Theater. The series is sponsored
by Saint Mary’s Health Care, whose leading medical
experts will present on the following topics:
- Alternatives to Medication (10 a.m.) Acupuncture
and massage for well-being, pain management, stress relief
and more
- Feeling Over-Medicated? (11 a.m.) How to
talk to your doctor about this and other issues
- Healthy Living 101 (noon) Nutrition and exercise
tips, including easy-to-learn fitness demos
- Staying Sharp (1 p.m.) Tips and tricks to
avoiding “senior moments”
- Getting a Good Night’s Sleep (2 p.m.) How
to feel more rested in the morning
Each lecture is 30 minutes long with 15 minutes for questions
and answers.
Other key attractions include: over 40 health, beauty, and
retirement vendors offering free information and services,
including massages, screenings in cholesterol, blood sugar,
bone density, balance and stroke testing; healthy snacks;
sample fitness classes and a technology learning lab; door
prizes and more.
