The Department of Critical Care provides a full range of
services for the critically ill adult patient. The department
integrates patient care and education with consultative, diagnostic
and therapeutic critical care services in a unit with special
care beds.
The care of the critically ill patient is seen as a continuum,
beginning in critical care and progressing to one of our two
intermediate care units. Each room within the Critical Care
Unit is equipped to monitor heart rate, hemodynamic pressures,
pulse oximetry, temperature and respiration.
The Communication Centers are equipped with an arrhythmia
monitoring and trending system. Visualization of patients
is achieved by use of closed circuit cameras in each room
and with video monitors in each communication center and nursing
station.
