Transcriptionist
Transcribes medical dictation to provide a permanent record
of patient care. Interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians
and other health care professionals regarding patient assessment,
work up, surgical and other diagnostic/therapeutic procedures.
Knowledge of:
- Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical
medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology,
pharmacology and the various medical specialties as required
in area of responsibility.
- Medical transcription guidelines and practices.
Ability to:
- Transcribe 70 minutes of dictation in an eight- (8) hour
shift (demonstrated within one year of hire).
- Understand diverse accents and dialects, varying dictation
styles and dictation of poor quality.
- Use designated reference materials.
- Operate designated word processing, dictation and transcription
equipment and other equipment as needed.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
