Clinical Career Path
Phlebotomist
Collects blood specimens in both inpatient and outpatient
settings. Data entry of patient encounters demographics. Identification,
collection, and processing of patient specimens. Insures prompt
delivery of specimens to testing areas. Distributes reports
through courier, fax, and mail to physicians. Coordinates
supply items and their delivery to clients. Telephone results
to physician office or care facility. Provides specimen collection
services to home bound, mental health and skilled nursing
facility patients.
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
- High school education required.
- Valid Michigan drivers license required.
- On job training, but six months phlebotomy experience
highly recommended.
- Adequate data entry and computer skills recommended.
