There's No Better Place to Start

More and more expectant parents are finding that our unique approach at The Birthing Center at Saint Mary's fits quite comfortably into their own plans for their newborn, their family, and the birthing experience. We start early, helping expectant mothers obtain essential prenatal care to promote a healthy pregnancy. Our educational programs prepare new moms, dads, and siblings for bonding, caring, and parenting.

There's No Better Place to StartThe Birthing Center has been renovated with private birthing suites comfortably furnished, fully equipped, and with whirlpool tubs and showers. We take care to provide all the labor management options available including medical, such as epidurals, and complementary, like massage, music, breathing, and other techniques. New moms have many delivery options that can include the father's or birthing coach's participation and plans to include siblings or other family members.

It's seldom that newborns need extra medical attention. Still, it's comforting for parents to know that our top-notch Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level III, staffed by Neonatal Nurse Practitioners with the services of our prominent Neonatalogists available 24 hours a day. Level III is the highest NICU ranking in the area.

The focus of an upcoming National Geographic magazine article, our complementary care approach includes the nurturing touch of infant massage for premature infants. The technique, provided by therapists from the Wege Institute for Mind, Body, and Spirit, has become widely recognized for promoting faster weight gain, lowering stress hormones to improve immune functions, and promoting the bonding process.

Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level III. You Would Have to Travel to Ann Arbor for a Higher Level Unit.

  • Over 2000 Babies Delivered Annually
  • 16 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Stations
