Report to
the Community
Dear Friends of Saint Mary's,
It is a time to celebrate great accomplishments as we continue
to grow and serve West Michigan. Thanks to a dedicated management
team, medical staff, clinicians, support personnel, board
members, generous donors, the trust and confidence of our
patients, and a loyal community, we're enjoying unprecedented
success.
The
Cancer Center at Saint Mary's is at the forefront of cancer
treatment, leading the way with the most advanced medicine
and technology in the region. Nobody knows and treats cancer
better than Saint Mary's.
Construction is underway for the cancer hospital our community
has so greatly needed, the Richard J. Lacks Sr., Cancer Center
at Saint Mary's. At completion, our outpatient Cancer Center
and inpatient cancer care will move in together to become
West Michigan's first dedicated cancer hospital.
Our ambitious fund-raising effort for the Richard J. Lacks
Sr., Cancer Center is the largest and most successful in Saint
Mary's history, already nearing 96% of our $42,000,000 goal.
We have gifted a parcel of land on the Saint Mary's campus
to the American Cancer Society so that they can realize their
dream for Hope Lodge, a hospitality center for all cancer
patients and their families receiving care in Grand Rapids.
Parkinson's disease patients will have a Center of Excellence
with the opening of West Michigan's first dedicated Parkinson's
disease Clinic at Saint Mary's this summer.
Our Emergency Department has been renovated and expanded
to efficiently handle the steadily increasing number of emergency
visits.
Our medical staff, led by Chief of Staff Steven Crane, M.D.,
continues to build and enhance our cancer, neurology, diabetes,
primary care, and other clinical programs.
Our nurses deliver their extraordinary care with compassion,
spirit, and dedication, working with increasingly advanced
equipment, practices, and policies.
We continue building strategic relationships with other health care
providers (such as Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services
and Mary Free Bed Hospital and Rehabilitation Center), and
remain committed to working with other health care organizations,
such as the VanAndel Institute, in the best interest of our
community.
We've stayed true to our goals and passion, taking care of
all of you, our patients and our community, with exceptional
health care that treats body, mind, and spirit. We thank all
of you and take pride in presenting this Report to the Community.
